A Lesson Before Dying Chapter 15 Reflection
Vivian meets Tante Lou and her friends after they come home from church. She fears that Tante Lou won’t like her. It is also revealed that her family is racist toward dark skinned people. Her family did not welcome her dark skinned husband into their home and they didn’t acknowledge their children as well. Once Grants introduces her, he goes on to make coffee for the guests since he and Vivian drunk the rest that remained from breakfast. However, Tante Lou makes it clear that she could make it herself. Grant puts his foot down by telling her that he would be making more; he and Vivian both serve the guests cake and coffee. Tante Lou questions Vivian’s religion and is impressed by her answers. Before Vivian leaves she tells her that she is a woman of great quality.
