A Lesson Before Dying Chapter 9 Reflection

There is still tension between Tantye Lou and Grant from him not wanting to teach Jefferson. He and Miss Emma goes to visit Jefferson. The car ride was silent because Miss Emma was in deep thought and Grant refused to start a conversation. Once they arrived, the officers check them for weapons. When the got to the cell, Jefferson wouldn’t speak to her nor Grant, he just stared at the ceiling.  Miss Emma tried to bribe him into talking with a piece of fried chicken, but he wouldn’t talk. Once he did, he said he nothing matters anymore because it’s only a matter of time before he dies. Miss Emma breaks down when it is time for them to leave.
